KIM & BRIAN | HAWTHORNE HOTEL SALEM

Kim and Brian tied the knot May 12, 2012 on the Salem Common and held their reception at the Hawthorne Hotel. It was a perfect day for a wedding and the weather couldn’t have cooperated any better. Congratulations Kim & Brian! Here are just a few of my favorites from their big day.

Chyten Portrait Shoot

A month ago I spent the day photographing some environmental portraits for Chyten Educational Services, a premium tutoring and test preparation company. I’m very excited to see the full article and some of my photographs in the upcoming July 2012 issue of the Small Business Opportunities magazine!

SNEAK PEAK | PORTRAIT SERIES PROJECT

Over the past month I’ve had the privilege of photographing some pretty cool people for a portrait series project I was hired for. I’ll be excited to share some of the photographs once the project is published, but until then I leave you with some outtakes and behind the scenes pictures…

A Happy Cobbler

A few weeks back I spent the day with 72-year-old Misak Ayanyan who has owned Hollywood Shoe Repair in Burlington, MA. for 18 years. Ayanyan, who didn’t speak any English, immigrated to America from Armenia in 1980 to carry on the tradition he learned from his father when he was 13 years old. During my time spent with Ayanyan, I noticed he was an extremely hard worker and very happy. I’m excited to share some of my pictures and an audio slideshow with sound by the amazing John Walker.

Johnny On The Spot

Today was an extremely busy “spot news” day at the newspaper. I started off my morning photographing a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 North in Littleton where the victim was transported by Boston Medflight to Boston Medical Center. My mid-afternoon chasing a large brush fire that caused significant damage in the Justin/Bernard Conservation area in Lexington. And my afternoon at a two-alarm fire at 43 Franklin Street in Woburn.

Here are a few selects from the afternoon…

Interesting Outtake

Here’s a very interesting outtake from a recent freelance job. Be sure to take a close look! Can you figure out what’s going on?

Mitt Romney votes in Belmont

Yesterday during my day job I had the opportunity to photograph Republican presidential primary candidate Mitt Romney for the Belmont Citizen Herald. Romney cast his vote in his home town of Belmont, MA. at the Beech Street Center on Super Tuesday.  Here are a few images from the crazy afternoon…

Woburn Standoff Ends

Today I was dispatched to to the intersection of Main and Kilby streets in Woburn where an unidentified man climbed onto the roof of a four-story apartment building to avoid being served with a warrant for his arrest.  I covered this standoff for several hours when I finally noticed something else happening.  A pair of nuns with ash on their foreheads approach the police tape to pray for a moment. I managed to capture a few quick frames, but didn’t think much at the time. Later in the day, I found out the nearly seven hour standoff peacefully ended.  Fortunately, the suicidal man climbed back into a window of the apartment building and surrendered to authorities.  Here one of those frames from the afternoon…

Paul Parravano’s World

Being able to communicate stories through the lens of a camera is my passion. It is always an honor to connect with and learn from the amazing people in these stories, it never gets old. I will never forget Paul Parravano. I met him to document one of his routine workout sessions at Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning in Woburn, MA.  Parravano was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare type of retinal eye cancer, which progressed to both his eyes. He was blind by the time he was 3. Now, almost 60 and a father of two, Paul travels twice a week by MBTA from his home in Arlington, MA. to train at the gym. Other than moving arm-in-arm with his trainer Kyle Holland to workout stations in the gym, you would have no idea Parravano is blind. I am truly inspired by go getters like Paul – there should be more of people like him in the world!

Here are a few images from the afternoon…
